Relevant Entertainment

Unlike any other company in the over $100 billion movie industry, we are industry insiders with over 50 years experience in the business who are bringing studio-quality entertainment with traditional values to the mainstream marketplace using the highly successful studio model of filmmaking.

Relevant Entertainment LLC is considering raising capital through a Regulation Crowdfunding campaign to be conducted by Fundify Portal, LLC. We are running this “Test the Waters” campaign (branded by Fundify as a Fast Pitch Preview™) to gauge Investor interest and also determine the appropriate funding method. During this Test the Waters campaign, (1) no money or other consideration is being solicited, and if sent, will not be accepted; (2) no offer to buy the securities can be accepted and no part of the purchase price can be received until the offering statement is filed and only through Fundify's funding portal platform; and (3) a prospective purchaser's indication of interest is nonbinding.

Summary

The film industry is a multi-billion dollar global business that shows its resilience and need in society by growing in even the toughest of times, like we have seen during the recent pandemic.  Media in all its forms is the main driving force behind information and even the shaping of people's beliefs these days.  However, it seems that only one minority voice/viewpoint is heralded in media, at the expense of society as a whole.  This must change for the sake of future generations.  As the saying goes, when good men do nothing, evil wins.

Problem

Hollywood is Broken and Destroying Our Younger Generations

Media has become the dominant form of communication and influence on society over the past 50 plus years.  One thing for sure is that not only is the current environment in media disruptive for society as a whole, but it seems to have a much more direct and long term impact on the younger generations.  What happens with these generations affects us all!  Don't just take our word for it, though.

Just take a look at the current line up of TV shows, films, and other online streaming content and what you see and display all too often are film and TV shows that meet some of the criteria that these generations desire in entertainment, but they also glorify the dark side of life, while encouraging the acceptance of unhealthy beliefs.

Coupled with this is the very real and serious problem of exorbitant spending by the major studios that happens on films from the very beginning!  Most studio projects will range between $30-$200 million to produce.  However, more than 50% of these expenses are usually associated with costs that take place BEFORE production even begins!  This doesn't include all the wasteful spending that typically happens during production.  Not only is this not necessary, especially for character-driven films, but it is not feasible for independent production companies to do.  If we're being honest, it isn't really sustainable in the long run for any production company, as many have found out due to the Covid pandemic over the past few years.

This is why we will make our films for $7-$10 million each.  This amount allows us to attain the studio-quality professionals needed to bring our projects to life, while ensuring we are financially sound for years to come.

2020 showed us why there is a need for a new way of making and distributing films.  Simply speaking, along with the economy, the way consumers receive their entertainment has changed dramatically, and so must the industry if it wants to survive.  The days of bloated budgets and weak/tired storylines won't cut it anymore.

Because people of faith and values started viewing entertainment/the arts as the enemy over the past 50 years, this has led to a vacuum of morality, integrity, and truth in the entertainment world, which is destroying our society.  If we stand a chance at regaining a culture where values and morality are are held as important virtues to possess, then we must overhaul our entertainment.

We believe there is a HUGE base of everyday movie-goers (including Millennials and Gen Z) who want to watch movies without having to compromise their morals or values and are willing to support any film that offers this, AS LONG AS it has studio-quality entertainment with a solid story that relates a real world message of hope and truth.

Solution

Entertainment Professionals with Expertise, Values, and Faith

The only way to truly alter the message in media is to transform the industry from the inside out.  You wouldn't go to your doctor to fix the engine on your car, so why would you think those with no entertainment industry experience are capable of understanding the mechanics behind good filmmaking?  The simple answer is they're not!

We will not only ensure that the truth and hope of our faith is woven into the stories of our films, but we will be a film production company created with the intent to share the gospel with those who work in Hollywood, as well.

Our Slate of Original Films

When you invest in Relevant Entertainment, you're not just investing in one film, you're investing in a slate of films.  We currently have 3 projects in the works with many more to come down the road.  By offering films that range in genre, tone, and topics, we aim to offer more financial stability to our investors over the years to come.  We plan to use the profits from our first three films to fund subsequent films in the future.  We are in this for the long haul!

Our First Film:  "Through Thick and Thin"
This is a story about a young man from Dallas with a promising future who learns firsthand how cruel, difficult, yet redemptive life can be after finding himself homeless.  It seamlessly blends the struggles, heartache, and laughter of everyday life together in an entertaining and poignant way. Think Napolean Dynamite meets Steel Magnolias.

Our Second Film:  "Another Way"  (working title)
Based on a true story.  Although Brad Riley grew up in a typical church-going, family-oriented, suburban city in Texas, his family was far from typical.  By the time Brad was finishing middle school, the lack of affection shown in his family, abusive behavior, and the desire to constantly be as far from home when possible, led Brad to gravitate to a group of similarly lost friends his age.  Their poor decisions eventually led to all of them doing jail time by the end of their senior year in high school.  God's story for Brad, however, was not done.  This film is about how he went from someone with six different stints in jail to the lead worship pastor at one of the most influential churches in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.

Our Third Film:  "The Other Side of The Moon"  (subject to change)
A story about a young man in his 30's who is on the verge of losing his family and career when he is presented with personal story of love and tragedy from an unexpected source that inspires him to step out of the shadows and into the light.

Business Model

Disrupt and Redefine The Business of Filmmaking

We're not asking you to invest in a vision with good intentions.  We're offering you the opportunity to invest in a professionally run business with a Gospel-centered mission.

One of the main things that sets us apart from the other production companies is in how we go about making our films.  Financial success in filmmaking requires a methodical and highly developed set of plans.

The majority of independently produced films result in a financial loss, as most film investors will tell you.  This is due to a lack of proper structuring in the development process and not understanding  the business as a whole, which is why we employ the most successful roadmap for filmmaking that exists in the industry, but is only used by a select few.

Here's what we do-

Here are The Stages of Development and How This Works:

 Stage 1:  Developing The Story-

During this time, the story is developed with the goal of positively overwhelming the masses from around the globe, but especially our target audience.  If there is no script in hand, a screenwriter will be hired to write the story.  If a complete script already exists (which is the case for 2 of our 3 films), then this time is used to hire screenwriting professionals whose job it is to review every aspect of the script and give a detailed analysis of what works and what doesn't.  Then, the notes are taken back to the writing team to make adjustments on the screenplay.  Then, the process repeats itself.  Most studio scripts will go through this routine between 20 to 40 times before the screenplay is distributor ready.  This entire process can take anywhere between 6 to 18 months depending on whether you are staring with a completed script or not.

Stage 2:  Green light Analysis-

During this time, we analyze likely global earnings from all sources compared to its total production, branding, and distributing costs.  The profit to cost ratio must be 2 to 1 before we will proceed.  Here's a list of just a few of the activities that are done during this time:  identifying target audiences while doing an in-depth comparative analysis, analyze a producer's global gross and share profits report, confidential investment memorandum, diligence materials memorandum for investors, production funding analysis and architecture with prospective partners, and more.  We wouldn't be moving forward if these scripts and the premise for our 2nd film hadn't passed the initial screening.  We are ready!

Stage 3:  Further Development with Distributors-

Once each film passes the green light process, it's further developed and considered for each major global market in order to determine the specific needs for each market.  It is also at this point that the CEO of Relevant Entertainment will be working to negotiate various licensing deals with companies for marketing and branding purposes.

Stage 4:  Engage Distributor License Agreements in Major Global Markets-

When we are able to secure these distribution agreements along with other collateral and the film's completion bond, then we can fully secure the bank production loan needed to fund the making of the movie.

Stage 5:  Production Begins-

This period of time includes hiring our crew, casting the actors, scouting filming locations, as well as many other necessary steps before we can begin rolling a camera, which is usually about a 45 to 60 day process.  Once we have everything lined up and ready to go, we can begin to actually shoot the film.  We slate around 4 to 6 weeks for what is known as principal photography.  Once the film is shot and finished, we then immediately move into post production, which entails numerous details in order to get the film ready to hand over to our distributors for release.  Before we begin the production process, we have a hard date set by the distributors for when this film will be ready to hand over for viewing.  This date will determine and drive our post and production timeline.

Traction

We Already Have U.S. Distribution Secured!

It doesn't matter how great your product is if you can't sell it, right?  In the world of filmmaking, distribution is key to ensuring that your film is seen by audiences.  This is true for any platform (theaters, DVD, VOD, Streaming, and etc.), but it is also the hardest thing for most filmmakers to obtain for numerous reasons.

Typically, independent production companies (which is every production company outside of the 6 major studios) are thrilled IF they score distribution with ONE international territory BEFORE they begin production on a film.  U.S distribution almost always comes last, if at all.  We have been blessed to partner with an amazing distribution liaison who has done one heck of a job helping us do what almost NO other film production company (outside of the 6 major studios) has or is able to accomplish.  Along with this great news, we are proud to share with you that David has also helped us secure the services of another industry powerhouse professional with more than 20 years experience in international sales for Sony.  He will be taking care of our international distribution, and because of his experience/relationships within the industry, we are well positioned to be able to submit with the 8 largest territories globally, plus more once we are ready.

Along with having vehicles to get our product to market in place, we are building an online following of fans who are eagerly waiting to see our films hit the big screens.  The CEO has been making multiple appearances on highly rated and viewed podcasts, as well as speaking at major public speaking events around the U.S. over the past year in an effort to create and grow our audience at the grassroots level.

Competition

Large Market Audience- Limited Offerings

There really isn't much direct competition in this space.  Major studios don't make many movies (outside of the Marvel franchise films) that appeal to the Millennial and GenZ audiences that don't come with an R rating.  So, for the millions of film loving people out there in these categories who are tired of having to overlook a sexually explicit scene, ignore expletive rants, or even be told what their social/political views should be if they desire to be a good citizen of humanity, their options outside of the faith-based or animated world are becoming smaller and smaller these days.

Now, what if the desire of these average movie-going individuals, specifically Millennials and Gen Z aged people, such as: original storylines with strong acting, movies that explore complex and conflicting emotions, stories with authentic humor, young people in leading roles, and films that accurately portray traditional values was placed at the forefront of every film a production company made?  Combine this with the business model that major studios use to produce their films, and we believe you have movie gold like the comparable films in the chart below here.

Market

Millennials and GenZ Audience

Our focus and goal is to help shape the future of the next generation through media.  Although we believe our films will appeal to most movie-goers, we will be a company in this industry who places an emphasis on stories that relate and speak to the Millennial and GenZ audiences-who combined, are the largest moviegoing audience.

In 2019, 10.7 million of the 40 million frequent movie-goers were ages 25-39, which has been true for the previous 3 years, as well.

Although the theater box office is still a significant driver for film success, we have a seen a much faster than expected shift to the straight to streaming market for TV and film since the pandemic began.  This trend is only expected to increase in the years ahead.

This presents an amazing opportunity for a company like ours who is nimble, creative, understands how to make the best products on a reasonable budget, and whose target market audience happens to be the largest consumers of streaming media in the world.

According to Statista, as of 2020, there were 3.5 Billion smartphone users in the world (or 45% of the global population).  This is key as an overwhelming majority of the streaming that takes place happens from a smartphone vs. a television these days.

Out of these 3.5 billion smartphone users globally, in 2020, Nielsen reported that the Millennial and Gen Z age groups (18-34) accounted for 64% of all smartphone users globally.

We also found from a study done in April 2020 by VisualCapitalist.com that out of all the quarantine internet activities among various generations, Millennials accounted for a 52% increase in watching movies/TV, and the GenZ audience accounted for a 51% increase in watching movies/TV.  This trend along with the overwhelming availability of new shows and films via streaming platforms will only increase the volume of time spent looking for and watching quality films for these generations in the years to come.

Company Vision

We want to disrupt and completely reimagine the film industry.

Relevant Entertainment is unlike any other company in the entertainment industry.  This is intentional by design, as the business of entertainment is a broken business model in many ways.  As our name states, we are in the business of bringing high-quality films that are relevant to your tastes, relevant to your everyday struggles, relevant to the world in which you live, and most importantly, relevant to traditional values.  In order to accomplish this on a professional studio-size scale, it takes a team of people who have the understanding and experience in Hollywood with the moral and spiritual convictions to see it through.

Part of what makes us different and allows us to stand out as a company is the spiritual mission of our company.  Because we are mainstream industry professionals, our goal is to use the talented people who currently reside within the industry to make our projects.  This gives us an open door for evangelism in one of the darkest and most lost places on our planet...Hollywood.  This is why we will have a dedicated mission team who will have the following responsibilities for each and every project we develop:  pray for the individuals assigned to them, offer a voluntary Bible study each week for those who would like to attend, send a word of encouragement via the preferred choice of the individual each week that we are in production on a project, ensure that the gospel is presented at least once to every individual working on a project, and provide the spiritual support and accountability for the executive members of the company.

If you're like us, you don't want to spend your hard earned money to go see a film with poor acting or a lackluster storyline, which unfortunately, happens all too often.  However, for millions of film-loving people out there like us, who are sick and tired of having to choose to overlook a sexually explicit scene, ignore a multi-minute expletive rant, or our favorite, to be told what your political/social views should be if you desire to be a good-citizen of humanity, your options outside of "the faith-based" (which usually provides subpar products) or animated world are getting smaller and smaller these days.  This leaves the largest portion of our society wondering "Where are the filmmakers who will cater to us?"

Just imagine with me for a moment how it would feel to be excited about going to the movies again or looking for that new show/film on your favorite streaming network because you don't have to choose entertainment at the expense of your morals/convictions.  What if the desires of the average movie-going individual  (original storylines with strong acting, movies that explore complex and conflicting emotions, stories with authentic humor, and films that accurately portray traditional values) was placed at the forefront of moviemaking?
